Marc was raised singing and touring in a family of seven, but it wasn't his experiences in front of an audience or on stage that made him decide to launch a full time career in music. Instead it was his growing relationship with God and his deeper understanding of how worship encompasses your whole life that inspired Marc to write songs, teach and lead worship on a more demanding basis that he decided to make a life of it.
In the last nine years of his ministry Marc has crisscrossed
the country dozens of times, performing thousands of concerts,
conventions, conferences, and retreats. For the last year and a
half, he has been the worship and music minister at Central
Christian Church in Carmel, a suburb of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Now with his latest release Come to the Table on the
Capstone Arts & Entertainment label, he is back, touring full
time and with his newly formed band. He has several new songs
from the album including You are Holy which is being
sung in churches everywhere and a funky, bluesy
song titled Great Things that emphasizes the need to
combine a life of missions with a life of worship.
Marc's concerts bring out his ability to weave creative stories, about his childhood and the everyday struggles and joys of life, into insightful, thought provoking lyrics which are accompanied with some awesome guitar playing. He has the ability to capture the attention of audiences of all ages, bringing them into the same experience, touching all of their senses, and relating to each the identity and love of Christ. Someone once said that He was like a Tony Campolo, a James Taylor, and a Michael Card all rolled into one!
If you catch him and his band, you'll hear everything from the wild Celtic sounds of penny whistles, fiddles, accordions and hammered dulcimers in songs like Selah, to simple stripped down acoustic sets with world percussion, guitar and violin. Although it might be difficult to describe his unique style you might say that it's an alternative acoustic, Dave Matthews like, sometimes a little Celtic sounding, but always original.
His leading worship is not geared toward a particular style as much as it is geared toward leading people into real worship and deepening their ability to give affection to God. Marc teaches in workshops and seminars that worship is not just about music or hymns versus choruses, it is about making your whole life a kiss towards God. His desire is that people come away from a worshipful experience, or a worship service with the realization that our lives are our worship service to God.
